Davina McCall is currently hosting Big Brother: Best Shows Ever on E4 with Rylan Clark-Neal but is she about to get an even bigger role?
According to The Daily Star Sunday, McCall is in “secret talks” with Endemol Shine Group about returning to host a new series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2021 on E4.
“Davina has been approached about the potential of returning to present Celebrity Big Brother again,” a source told the tabloid.
The news comes as E4 is airing a special look back at the best series of Big Brother with Davina and Rylan. The first episode attracted 660,000 viewers as it tripled the usual 9 pm time slot. The tabloid says it is “highly likely” a new series of Celebrity Big Brother would air in early 2021.
McCall was the original host of the show on Channel 4 from 2000-2010 before it was axed. The Channel 5 run was hosted by from 2011-2013. Big Brother Bit On The Side host Emma Willis took over from 2013 until the final series in 2018.
Willis hosts The Circle on C4 and executives say they fear her hosting a Big Brother revival would clash with her work on The Circle.
“She is the undisputed queen of the show, so it would be a dream to have her back,” the source said of McCall’s possible return. “They’re prepared to work everything around her if it means getting her on board. And of course, there will be a healthy pay cheque on offer.”
Big Brother: Best Shows Ever continues Sunday at 9 pm on E4.
