It wasn’t going to be easy for fans of The Chase to warm to a brand new gameshow on ITV…
Just as always, The Chase is taking a summer break, and is replaced with another ITV gameshow format. This year, it’s Rylan’s new show Babushka.
However, after some badly worded articles fans quickly began Tweeting Rylan abuse saying he was the cause of the show coming off air.
The abuse forced the Big Brother’s Bit On The Side host to quit Twitter, posting “Getting a bit ridiculous now. Just doing my job. Coming off here for a while,”.
The Chase’s own Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty tweeted hoping to resolve things however to little avail. Now, the show has aired its first episode, and it’s had mixed reviews online from fans.
Well I won't be russian to watch that again #babushka

Some were quick to raise how similar the format of Babushka was to Deal Or No Deal, while others weren’t fans of new host Rylan.
So #babushka is essentially Deal or No Deal then?

Other Twitter users added that the dolls in the show are actually called matryoshka, whilst babushka means grandmother.

But it wasn’t all bad, with many supporting Rylan’s new show… and said others should “give it a chance”.

All these people talking about the chase being moved because of #babushka are being pathetic. Rylan is going to slay ITV, get used to it.

Whatever the case, The Chase WILL return to screens in a matter of weeks…
Babushka continues weeknights on ITV at 5pm.
