Six years after being formed on The X Factor USA, girl group Fifth Harmony is taking a ‘hiatus’ as the girls focus on their solo careers.
The girls made the announcement on Twitter Monday morning, thanking fans for “one hell of a ride” and all the support. While the group and their management are calling it a ‘hiatus’, others think this might signal the end for the group.
Group members Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei each signed their names at the end of the post and promised fans their upcoming show dates will continue as originally planned.
After auditioning separately on the American version of The X Factor in 2012, Simon Cowell put the girls together, which included Camila Cabello at the time. In 2016, Cabello announced she would be leaving the group and Fifth Harmony continued as a quartet with the fans being the ‘fifth’ member.

The group’s split joins join One Direction as the second band to go their separate ways in the span of three years.
The girls had already begun looking to solo careers even as they released their third album. Dinah Jane had a new single with RedOne, French Montana, and Daddy Yankee titled “Boom Boom.” Ally Brooke’s single with Topic, “Perfect”; and Normani’s “Love Lies with Khalid. Lauren also released a solo project as she collaborated with Marian Hill and Steve Aoki.
