It’s been revealed that Coronation Street star Julie Goodyear turned down the chance to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because she wouldn’t be able to spoke on the 23-hour flight to Australia.
The story has been revealed in a new book by former TV producer Lisa Mary London, Reality Rehab.
The book states that Julie refused to appear unless she could take a 40-day boat trip.
The author states Goodyear’s addiction to nicotine meant that she was too afraid to take the long flight.
The boat trip to Australia takes on average 40 days each way, and can cost up to £4000 per person.
‘Soap legend Julie Goodyear frustrated me when she rang in person to say she’d love to do the show if we could get her to Australia by boat,’ writes London.
‘A 23-hour flight without frequent cigarette breaks was out of the question for the chain-smoking soap diva.’
Goodyear appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and reportedly smoked 100 cigarettes a day, with production giving her the nickname The Chimney Pot.
