Phaedra Parks has been fired by Bravo bosses and will not be returning to the Real Housewives of Atlanta, it has been reported.
The news comes after Parks confessed to being behind the ‘date rape’ rumors against fellow housewife Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker. Phaedra admitted she was the one who told housewife Porsha Williams that Kandi and her husband had planned to drug her and take her back to their hotel room.
The lie finally came out in Sunday’s explosive finale to the four-part reunion. Kandi and Porsha were in tears as Phaedra kept trying to deny it until finally saying she had heard it from someone – not that Burruss told her.
“She, as someone who knows me, knows I don’t do drugs… but then as an attorney, why would you repeat that someone drugged somebody? You should understand that drugging somebody while they’re drinking and taking them home is rape. Y’all accused me of being a f***ing rapist,” Kandi screamed through tears.
Host and producer Andy Cohen told Us Weekly he was surprised by the 43-year-old attorney’s actions, but not just what she did. Also how she handled it.
“I was just very surprised — not just by the revelation that Phaedra spread. I was surprised by her,” he said. “She seemed kind of withdrawn about it.”
TMZ was first to report that Cohen and other Bravo bosses would not renew Parks’ contract for next season, citing anger over the massive lie regarding her fellow cast mate.
The exit of Phaedra will make room for two familiar faces to return. Kim Zolciak-Biermann will be coming back for Season 10 of the show, but in a smaller role. It has also been reported that NeNe Leakes has been asked back and Bravo is willing to fork up $2.5 million for her return.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to Bravo next year for Season 10.
