After proving to be a ratings hit, The Masked Singer UK is reportedly set to return for a third series on ITV.
The Daily Star is reporting plans are already underway despite the broadcaster officially not announcing a renewal just yet. A record high 10 million viewers changed the channel to ITV for the final and ITV said an average of 8.6 million tuned in to the 90 minute show, up 2.2 million on last year’s final.
“After some discussions, ITV agreed to splash the cash for another series,” a source told the tabloid. “The format is such a hit with viewers, so they know it’ll be worth it. They are already making plans for when to film it and which celebs they’d love to sign up.”
Joel Dommett hosts the series while Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan serve as the judging panel. The entire lineup will likely stay the same for series three according to Jonathan.
“We love doing it, I’m looking forward to doing it again because it’s a fun way to spend the evening,” he said.
Joss Stone was the winner of the second series, which concluded on Saturday. Badger was the runner up and revealed to be US pop star Ne-Yo.
