The Real Housewives of Orange County is shaking up their cast ahead of the show’s 16th season. Heather Dubrow is returning and Kelly Dodd, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, and Elizabeth Lyn Vargas will not be back.
Shannon Storms Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter, and Emily Simpson will all be back and two new women will be joining them on the cast. Dubrow was on the show from Season 7 through 11, where she was known for her confrontational style.
Fans of the show wanted to boycott the show’s 15th season because of Dodd’s comments when she compared COVID deaths to those caused by other illnesses, posting on Instagram COVID is “God’s way of thinning the herd”. She later apologized for those comments at the show’s reunion at the end of the season.
At the reunion, she shouted “I’m Black!” when discussing Black Lives Matter. She has previously identified as Mexican-American. Dodd refused to film with Windham-Burke, who sober and a lesbian, two things Dodd made fun of her for.
“There were times in the past where we would say, “You know what? Let’s let the women live their lives for a while, and see where they’re at,’” ‘RHOC’ producer Andy Cohen said in an interview back in March. “There’s a clear hope from the fans that there’s some kind of shakeup. And I think we’re analyzing everything. I think we just wanted to be really deliberate too.
Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo in the US and on ITVBe in the UK.
