Simon Cowell is set to sign a multi-year deal to keep both Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor on ITV for another three years.
The Mirror is reporting that the music mogul is close to a deal with the broadcaster to secure the fate of his shows until 2022. Reports suggest that his deal is “likely simular” to the previous deal that saw him earn £25million.
“There have been meetings recently between Simon’s producers and ITV executives to thrash out some of the details, but Simon is already planning how to build on the shows’ successes on ITV,” a source told The Mirror. “Everyone is looking forward to the future.”
Last year’s X Factor final was watched by 7.5 million viewers, up 500,000 from 2017. Meanwhile, the Britain’s Got Talent 2019 finale was seen by 9.7 million.
Cowell is making changes to this year’s X Factor, bringing back Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh to the judging panel. He is also making changes to the format as this year will see a celebrity and All-Star version of the singing show.
“Simon is loving life and is trying new things like the X Factor with old contestants returning, and the celeb version is going to shake things up. He has a good feeling,” the source said.
