Two new faces have joined The Flash for season 2 which is due to debut in October.
Announced at Comic-Con, Teddy Sears (American Horror Story) and Shantel VanSanten (The Messengers) have signed on to appear on the CW’s superhero series later this year.
Sears will be playing the role of Jay Garrick, who was the first character to ever appear in DC The Flash.
VanSaten will be playing police officer and Science geek Patty Spivot, she will be a love interest for Barry but will have not know about his double identity.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said: “Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas.
“It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”
He added: “We were huge fans of The Messengers and are excited to have Shantel join us to help complicate Barry Allen’s love life in season two.”
