The Masked Singer UK aired its penultimate episode of the series on Saturday night as the remaining five celebrities battled it out to make the grand final but for two acts, it would be the end of the road.
Harlequin, Dragon, Robin, Badger, and Sausage all took to the stage to try and impress the judges along with the audience to get them one step closer to the final and winning that coveted trophy. The first act to say goodbye was comedienne and broadcaster, Sue Perkins, who was unveiled as Dragon.
Her performance of Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love” was not enough to keep her around another week. As she was unmasked, judge Davina McCall praised Sue for throwing off the panel with a fake American accent.
Being Dragon is liberating and brilliant,” Sue said after her elimination. “I’ve been able to be really playful and silly, and childlike and scary, and all those things that sometimes you can’t be. Every second has been brilliant!”
The drama wasn’t over with Sue’s elimination. There was a double bill in the works as Harlequin was eliminated and when unmasked, it was revealed to be pop icon, Gabrielle. She sang a beautiful rendition of Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted” but it would not be enough to get her into the final.
Speaking to presenter Joel Dommett after her elimination, Gabrielle admitted she can be quite nervous on the stage, so doing the show with a mask on helped.
“I’m a very nervous performer and I thought doing this ‘Maybe I can come out of my comfort zone’,” she said. “Let me tell you now, I loved it! It was the most fabulous experience and I look forward to watching this now.”
The final remaining acts Robin, Badger, and Sausage will all battle it out next week for the chance to take home the title.
