The Voice UK is back for another series and coaches Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, and will.i.am are on the hunt for the next biggest singing sensation in Britain.
This year sees a twist as trios will be able to audition for the first time ever. This is in addition to soloists and duos, so the coaches will have their work cut out for them this year.
Each coach has ten spots to fill on their teams this series. So in case you missed it, here is a recap of week one of the blind auditions:
The 32-year-old firefighter opened the series as he got all four coaches to turn their chairs with his rendition of Maria McKee’s Show Me Heaven. After some careful debate, he chose Team Tom.
History was made as Remember Monday became the first ever trio to audition for the show in its history. They also got all four coaches to turn with a cool stripped back version of Seal’s Kiss From A Rose. In the end, Team J-Hud was chosen one by the group to be their coach.
The 16-year-old student from North Devon may not have gotten four turns but her performance of Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You by Lauryn Hill got Olly and Will to turn. After some debating, she chose Team Will.
The 35-year-old delivered one of the more emotional performances of the night. He sang God Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts and only got Sir Tom to turn. In a special moment, Tom sang a duet with Peter on the piano.
The 17-year-old got all four coaches to turn with her cover of Eva Cassidy’s You Take My Breath Away. In the end, she chose Team Olly to be her coach.
The 24-year-old closed the show and wow, what a way to do it! She sang Never Enough from The Greatest Showman and got all four coaches to turn. She is currently in the West End in Dreamgirls, so it was no surprise she chose Team J-Hud. However, it also inspired Jennifer to sing a duet with her as well.
So there we have it. At the end of the first week of blind auditions here’s where the coaches stand: Team Olly has one act, Team Tom has two, Team J-Hud has two, and Team Will has one.
The Voice UK airs Saturday’s at 8 pm on ITV.
